April 21 - June 26

Artist are invited to submit work for a felted stained glass exhibition at the Pearse Museum in Rathfarnham, Dublin, Ireland.
The exhibition will run from the 21st April to the 26th June, 2022.
It is open to artists from around the world.
The submission deadline to have work at the Museum is 10th April, 2022 (Ellen Silberlicht, a member of NEFG, needs your final work in hand by March 15th, as she will arrange one package to send all participating members’ pieces). Niki Collier, the exhibition organizer, is trying to get a grant for postage, but if not, all participants will need to pitch in for one package to be delivered and then returned.

Register your interest here.

Submissions should interpret stained glass art using the stained glass felting technique. Examples of previous work developed using this technique can be found here and here.

You can submit 2 pieces of work, one large and one small:

  • Large Wall Hanging / SculptureIdeally, pieces should be A1 in size (for reference: A1 size is 59.4 x 84.1 cm).If this sounds challenging work with either A2 or A3, just consider the possibility that your piece might be grouped with other artists who have chosen smaller size in a A1 block. With all the credits on a side of course.
  • Small Felt PictureA small 25×25 cm felted stained glass picture. All participants in the free classes will produce a submittable piece of work as part of the class.
  • Finish work to be hung using Velcro sewn on the back, fluffy side sewn to the felt and hooked part on other side. See illustration:
  • Ellen Silberlicht will be the point person for gathering and sending out all work to the Museum.  Further details will come from Ellen.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is this felted stained glass technique?

A: The felted stained glass technique is a felting technique that was invented by Niki Collier, inspired by her workshop, which is at the location of Evie Home’s workshop.

Q: How can I learn this technique?

A: A series of free classes will take place as part of the programme associated with the exhibition. If you cannot attend the classes in person, you can watch recordings of previous classes on the technique given as part of the Keep Well Campaign.

Q: Do I have to submit a piece that is A1 in size?

A: You can also produce an A2 or A3 sized piece. Just consider the possibility that your piece might be grouped with other artists who have chosen smaller size in a A1 block.

Q: Can the piece be a sculpture?

A: Yes. If you are submitting a felt piece just follow the technique- cut prefelts put together and embellished with border. The border is the key to this technique.

Q: How many pieces could I submit?

Each artist can submit one Large Wall Hanging / Sculpture and one small felt picture.
