Renate Will Be Teaching a Special Technique

May 19 - May 20

Renate Maile-Moskowitz will be leading a special workshop focusing on a fascinating and beautiful technique of burning out Velvet and Devoré, including the related degumming of Organza silk. We will make our very own fabric and turn it into Nuno felted wearables of our choice, including scarves, wrist warmers, cowl necks, hats, or vests. The goal – no matter how you choose to apply it – is to truly understand these special silk fabric manipulation techniques and their outstanding variegated textural effects when used in Nuno felting.

The workshop will be held in Honesdale, PA at The Himalayan Institute (https://himalayaninstitute.org/)  The cost of the two-day workshop is $275. Overnight accommodations are available at The Himalayan Institute for $115/night for a private room (with a sink in the room) and a shared hall bath.  The room fee includes all meals, which are entirely vegetarian. There will be a small food fee for day guests, and we will update this posting when we have that cost information.  If you are not familiar with The Himalayan Institute, take a look at their website and note their wellness, yoga, meditation, and hiking activities.

Renate will have workshop materials available for purchase if you do not have what is needed to participate. More details will be available shortly.

If interested, please contact Ellen Silberlicht or Nancy Lauby immediately to express your interest (see contact information below) and then mail a check (made out to Renate) to Ellen for $275 to reserve your spot. We are awaiting details on how you will reserve a room at The Himalayan Institute…stay tuned.
