My best early memories are of crocheting, knitting, sewing, ceramics. I love seeing how things work or are made, whether it’s a material object or infrastructure or a particular subculture.  I love color and texture. I adore wool. I studied engineering in college years ago — ’cause going off to college to study art or textiles was not even considered as an option — but I’ve had a number of careers. Now I’m circling back to making material objects.  In recent years I’ve discovered the craft schools such as Penland, Snow Farm and Arrowmont, and the many other venues for learning serious handworking skills. I discovered feltmaking a few years ago and love its plastic, transformational nature, and wool’s affinity for color.
