I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t making with my hands; always 3 dimensional and often with fiber. In 2004, while on a trip to British Columbia I first became aware of handmade felt, a nuno scarf, in a Vancouver gallery. I was immediately and viscerally drawn to its beauty and unique qualities and characteristics of color, texture, strength and drapeability.  It wasn’t until 2007, that I had the opportunity to experience felt making first hand. Since then, I have sought to learn as many felting techniques as possible, and have had the good fortune to study under the watchful eyes and capable tutelage of master felters such Karoliina Arvilommi, Anna Gutendaartir, Chad Hagen, Annemie Koenen, Andrea Graham, Linda VanAlstyne and Sharon Costello.

I love the versatile and transformative nature of wool and other fibers in feltmaking. Felting soothes my soul. Educated in science and research methodology I have a tendency to approach my work methodically.  While I try to override my left brained tendencies, I often find they insert themselves into my work as I continuously strive for order and control of the fibers.  Currently, I am fascinated by the soft, structural and textural that feltmaking presents.

My work has been displayed with the Northeast Feltmakers Guild’s “Creation Myths” 2012 LARAC exhibition and the Gallery at WREN, Bethlehem, NH 2012 “Small Works” show and the 2014 WREN Gallery Gala and Littleton Studio School Show. A number of pieces are held in private collections.

I have taught classes for the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen Littleton Studio School, in addition to private sessions.  In July, 2013 I presented a felt-making demonstration at the Yarn Garden during 2nd Friday Art, Littleton, NH.
