Artist Statement

I felt because it makes me feel intrigued and adventurous. Because in my work, the outcome depends on my creative decisions and doesn’t at the same time.

When I lay out the wool and fabrics, I envision what the final product is going to look like. But then I soak the wool in soapy water, do felting and fulling, and the result comes out to be something that I could not have predicted! That incredible euphoric feeling of completing something that originated from within you is something every felt-maker knows and loves. That is why each work is unique and one of a kind.

Why felting, you might ask. The reason is hard to describe, it is subconscious. I perceive the world through my eyes. I am a visual thinking person, and vision is my primary sense. But I interact with this fascinating world through my hands and skin as well. Hence, expressing myself through a medium that I can feel, both visually and physically, is imperative.
