This figure was made in response to the BLM movement. It references growth in relationships between people of different backgrounds. 36 years ago, my marriage was considered mixed because we were from different religious backgrounds. Other marriages were outlawed in some states. Blending families is one way people learn to love from different backgrounds, especially the children of those relationships. Hand felted wool from various projects is stitched together to form a new skin. The pieces reference crazy quilts that were historically sewn by varied immigrant groups. It is stitched in blood red thread.
